چکیده

Abstract The genetic structure of a population can provide important insights into animal movements at varying geographical scales. Individual and social behaviors, such as philopatry dispersal, affect patterns relatedness, age sex structure, shaping the local populations. However, these fine scale may not be detected within broader structure. Using SNP genotyping for pairwise relatedness estimates, we investigated spatial structuring 141 red foxes south-central Sweden two First, looked broad among regional level. We then estimated values to evaluate male, female mixed pairs dispersal more localized scale. found limited differentiation investigations revealed male biased dispersal. There were significant differences in geographic distances between highly related same with average distance males, 37.8 km, being six times farther than that females, averaging 6.3 km. In summary, low levels this study illustrates mobility ability across plays strong role organization locally, ultimately contributing patterns.

A n overwhelming majority of the global burden of morbidity and mortality caused by sexually transmitted infections (STI) and HIV is borne by the world’s poorest countries (fig 1). In a world increasingly ‘‘shrunk’’ by modern communications, what are the common issues preoccupying the international community of researchers in our field? In planning this themed issue, published on World AIDS Day...

Staying Close to a Curve

Given a point set S and a polygonal curve P in R, we study the problem of finding a polygonal curve through S, which has a minimum Fréchet distance to P . We present an efficient algorithm to solve the decision version of this problem in O(nk) time, where n and k represent the sizes of P and S, respectively. A curve minimizing the Fréchet distance can be computed in O(nk log(nk)) time. As a by-...

SNP genotyping by unlabeled probe melting analysis.

Fluorescent nucleic acid detection in polymerase chain reaction (PCR) generally uses oligonucleotide probes labeled with covalently attached dyes. However, unlabeled oligonucleotides in the presence of saturating DNA dyes can also serve as hybridization probes. The DNA dye, LCGreen Plus, and a 3'-blocked unlabeled probe are added before amplification, and asymmetric PCR is performed at a 1:5 to...

Variation Revealed by SNP Genotyping and Morphology Provides Insight into the Origin of the Tomato

Tomato, Solanum lycopersicum, is divided into two widely distributed varieties: the cultivated S. lycopersicum var. lycopersicum, and the weedy S. lycopersicum var. cerasiforme. Solanum pimpinellifolium is the most closely related wild species of tomato. The roles of S. pimpinellifolium and S. l. cerasiforme during the domestication of tomato are still under debate. Some authors consider S. l. c...

High-Throughput SNP Genotyping

Whole genome approaches using single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers have the potential to transform complex disease genetics and expedite pharmacogenetics research. This has led to a requirement for high-throughput SNP genotyping platforms. Development of a successful high-throughput genotyping platform depends on coupling reliable assay chemistry with an appropriate detection system to ...
